Hello all!!
I am Thomas Harper. I was born in Brandon, MB 21 years ago during a December blizzard. Ever since I can remember I have lived on a farm just 5 minutes west of Brandon. We have raised a variety of animals; cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits at different times.
Once old enough I started elementary school at Fleming in Brandon and graduated to go the St. Augustines school for middle years. Finishing grade eight on honour roll and as male athlete of the year I was ready for high school. Choosing purple as my colour I hit the books at Vincent Massey high school in the fall of 2005. While at Massey I was busy with volleyball, basketball and badminton for my first year. Things got busier every year after that, therefore to fit everything into my schedule I went to Crocus Plains high school to take my history and geography classes along with some construction and welding. Finally the fall of 2009 came and it was senior year. This year I played volleyball, basketball, ping pong, soccer, badminton, and track and field. June 26, 2010 came fast and I graduated once again on the honour roll and again won male athlete of the year.
At last the time came and university had come. Staying in town, to be able to help on the farm, I was a full time student in the Bachelor of Science degree at Brandon University. I majored in mathematics and physics and minored in psychology. During my university undergraduate degree years I remained in touch with Vincent Massey by coaching the grade nine boys volleyball team and assisted coaching the varsity boys basketball. Since I was at BU a lot of the time I took a job as a math marker and tutor and with score keeping the bobcats basketball games. Once again the years went by fast and I was graduating with my Bachelor in Science in 2013. As busy as I was I still managed to excel academically graduating with the highest mark in mathematics and physics and also the highest marks of all 3 year Bachelor of Science graduates.
Currently I am enrolled in the education program at BU with hopes that I can be teaching highs school mathematics somewhere close to Brandon in a couple of years. Along with teaching I hope to continue with coaching volleyball. My first in class experience will be at Vincent Massey teaching pre-calculus and calculus.
I am very passionate about starting up an agriculture class in a Brandon high school to allow students just to see something else that is out there in the world and also understand where our food and supplies come from. I hope to use this class to also give students who want to continue on to agribusiness an idea of what it is like.
I hope you enjoy the site and if you have any questions just see the contact me page and fill out the form :)
